Project Overview

Need:

Northern Ethiopia has been ravaged by conflict since November 2020, resulting in widespread famine, persecution, and the destruction of infrastructure. Over 1 million people have died from the violence, drone strikes, and widespread famine caused by blocked supply lines. As a result of targeted violence against Christians, women have been raped and brutalized, their children starved, and many churches destroyed or looted for artifacts.

Despite these immense challenges in the region, pastors in Northern Ethiopia remain on the frontlines, walking up to 35 km (22 miles) daily to spread the Gospel and support their communities. However, this long journey greatly limits their ability to reach and minister to remote areas devastated by war, starvation, and economic collapse. Without proper transport, thousands in need cannot be reached.

Solution:

In response to these challenges, Shai Fund is wortking to provide Ethiopian pastors access to  motorbikes,  enabling them to reach communities, expand their message of hope, and deliver critical support, including food, water, and medical aid, to those in dire need.  This program will empower local pastors to become more effective in their ministry and humanitarian work, bringing hope and relief to suffering communities.

Project Plan

In July 2024, Shai Fund began implementing this project to equip pastors in Northern Ethiopia with the necessary transportation to expand their ministry and outreach. Each motorbike will transport up to three pastors, significantly increasing their ability to visit and support isolated congregants and unreached villages.

This logistical support is crucial for sustaining their efforts to share the Gospel and provide vital humanitarian aid in a region where communities are severely affected by war, famine, and the breakdown of infrastructure. By providing motorbikes, we are directly addressing these challenges, enabling pastors to deliver food, medicine, and spiritual support to those who need it most.

With your support, Shai Fund will continue facilitating transport for pastors in Northern Ethiopia.
