Project Overview

The Need

Northern Ethiopia has been devastated by conflict since November 2020, resulting in a humanitarian crisis, religious persecution, and the destruction of communities. Over one million people have died due to violence, drone strikes, and famine caused by blocked supply lines. Human rights abuses are widespread, with Christians being violently targeted. Reports detail women raped and brutalized, children left to starve, and churches destroyed or looted amid the violence.

Despite the widespread instability and challenges caused by war, church leaders in Northern Ethiopia remain on the frontlines, many walking up to 35 km (22 miles) daily to provide counseling, guidance, and humanitarian aid to their communities. However, these long and difficult journeys severely limit their ability to reach remote areas devastated by war, starvation, and economic collapse. Without reliable transportation, the urgent needs of thousands in rural communities—both for counseling and material support—cannot be met.

The Solution

In response to these challenges, we are is equipping local church leaders with motorbikes and tuk-tuks, enabling them to travel greater distances, reach more communities, and expand their vital support network. This vital initiative builds self-sufficiency and strengthens community resilience, allowing church leaders to provide more effective assistance by delivering relief aid, and hope to vulnerable people in urgent need.

Project Details

Our initiative in Northern Ethiopia is transforming the way church leaders support their communities. With the addition of motorbikes—and soon tuk-tuks—church teams are now reaching farther and faster, connecting with remote villages that were once inaccessible.

This increased mobility is already making a powerful impact:

  • Mental health support is reaching communities traumatized by war and famine.
  • Religious freedom advocacy is being strengthened as churches stand firm and expand their presence despite persecution.
  • Economic resilience is growing through new opportunities created by the transport services.

Thanks to reliable transportation, local churches are delivering aid, spiritual guidance, and trauma counseling directly to those who need it most. In a region devastated by conflict and collapse, this initiative is not just meeting urgent needs—it’s restoring hope, dignity, and a path forward.
