Almost a year after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7th, 2023, tens of thousands of Israeli families remain displaced due to the destruction and ongoing threats. The chaos caused by the attacks has made it challenging for children to continue their education, and the lives of many elementary-aged children have spiraled into instability, uprooted from their schools, routines, and homes.
The negative effects children experience from displacement, and the high-stress environments created by ongoing war, have highlighted the vital need for advanced learning tools and educational resources that enable children to continue their learning undisrupted. Responding to this, Shai Fund identified several schools in war-affected areas that urgently need assistance for the new academic year.
To help children regain a sense of normalcy in these challenging circumstances, Shai Fund is distributing tablets that can be used in class and also in bomb shelters. As one of the most effective ways to assist children, tablets offer interactive learning opportunities and stress-relieving educational games. This technology is also equipping teachers with modern tools and applications to enhance their ability to engage with students in difficult conditions.
These digital resources are making a significant difference for these children frequently disrupted by emergencies; tablets help them engage dynamically with learning material while also managing psychological stress in traumatic conditions. The ongoing impact of this vital assistance was recently noted by Shai Fund board member Debbie Saperia after assisting the distribution, remarking:
“The work this principal is doing at the school is amazing... the weakest part of our society... they don't have a voice, no one to advocate or help them. I am sure the tablets will make a huge difference!”
This program is part of Shai Fund’s ongoing commitment to providing long-term support for those affected by war. We are supporting those most in need with assistance that helps them overcome and thrive in the midst of uncertainty and challenging circumstances.
Thanks to your generous support, tablets are already being distributed to school children throughout Israel, but for this program to be completed, further assistance is still needed.
